About me

I was born in eastern New Mexico, and raised on a ranch on the NM-Texas state line. After graduating from Tatum High School in 2001, I moved to Las Cruces to attend New Mexico State University, where I met my wife Teresita Batres. We have two children together, Emma Luna, 5, and Emilio Lorenzo, 3. Doña Ana County is now my home, and I cannot think of a better place to raise a family.

From an early age I learned the importance of hard work and good moral standards. Growing up on a ranch teaches you that. My parents were first generation immigrants that worked hard to provide for their family and made every sacrifice to pave a better future for my brother and me. Today I consider myself fortunate to be an American Citizen. That is why I believe in the values of the Democratic platform. Given equal opportunity, each can make a better future for their children. My goal as an elected official is to help build those opportunities in the best way that I can.
